Delta Partner and Codeshare Flights: Where Do You Check In?
A codeshare flight is sold by one airline but operated by another. This can change where you check in and which baggage rules apply.
How to tell who operates your flight
Look at your confirmation email or boarding details for the operated by line.
Where to check in
- Often with the airline that issued your ticket
- Sometimes with the operating airline
- Your confirmation usually explains which one to use
Baggage rules
Bag allowances and fees may follow the operating carrier or the ticketing carrier, depending on the route. Check both before packing.
Connecting flights
- Ask whether your bags are checked through to the final stop
- Confirm which terminal you need for each leg
- Leave enough connection time, especially if airlines use different terminals
Tips
- Read the fine print on your itinerary.
- Save both airlines’ contact details.
- Arrive earlier than usual.
